Joining this blog

By Stew Stryker

In order to be able to comment on this blog, you must be a registered WordPress user.

But I think this will be a better location for us than Upsaid, in time, but it will be a little cumbersome for all at first.

Here’s what you need to do:

Sorry this process is a little cumbersome, but you only have to do it once.

1) Sign up with WordPress by clicking this sign-up link. It will open a new browser window, so you can jump back to these instructions as you need.

2) Enter the username you want

3) Enter your email address (which no one else will be able to see when you post)

4) Click the check mark next to “I have read and agree…”

5) If you DO NOT want your own WordPress blog, click the circle next to “Just a username, please.”

6) Click the Next>> button

The next screen will show you your username, then tell you to check the email address you used for their activation email message. Please be patient for them to send the message. It could take up to an hour.

7) On that email message, just click the link marked “To activate your user, please click the following link:”.

This will open up your browser to WordPress and say “All set!”

Write down, print, copy or otherwise notice your PASSWORD on this screen. You’ll need it so don’t lose it!

8) Click the login button.

9) Log into your new account.

10) NOW, click on this link to come back to this topic.

11) Go to the bottom of the page and leave a reply just saying Hi or whatever you want. That will send me an email saying that someone new wants to join. As soon as I see that, I’ll approve your reply and then add you as a member. After that, you should be able to reply to comments without waiting for approval. I apologize in advance if I don’t see new comments right away and you have to wait a day for so for approval. As I get more experienced with this, I hope to add other administators.

12) Now close all the old pages! :-)

Thanks for your perseverence!

Stew, I went to upsaid to leave a comment on your most recent post. I am informed that upsaid is joining the rakes of the retired. No comments allowed… thats ok… I can play taps here… ;-)

Fred, You just couldn’t leave a reply on my latest post on Upsaid. Comments to old topics are still allowed, at least until I move them over here. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to do that, so they don’t just die there.

Wow, Stew, lots of archives? Are you planning on all of them? Is there that much of a need? Maybe a consensus is in order? (Just thinking?) No problem on the posts…

    Fred,

I was just thinking of the more current and active topics that people haven’t finished commenting on. One in particular comes to mind, the one with the most replies ever!

  8. Fred Patterson Says:

Me too, Stew. It’s a very important topic too and one that needs lots of attention.

Just some pointers for using this blog, when you see the “Windsor Record” header, no matter where you are, to return to the main page of the blog, click on that header. :-)
