Pardon my ignorance, but I didn’t know a penny sale was. I knew it wasn’t something for coin collectors and you’re not selling stuff for a penny, so I Googled it.

Here’s what I found, which is hopefully how it works? Please let me know otherwise.

Vendors and contributors provide a small sample of their wares or a gift certificate for The Penny Sale. People buy raffle-like tickets for a small fee. Then they place tickets in the cans for the items they want to win and hope for the best. Putting more tickets on an item increases your chances of winning it. Winning tickets for the Penny Sale are drawn from each can and the winner gets the item.

    Sounds like fun to me!
