I started attending Budget Committee meetings in the Fall of 2002, and continued attending SelectBoard meetings after the budget was sent to the Selectboard. Barbara Flinn wanted to disband the Budget Committee and have the Selectboard be solely responsible for crafting the budget. But others of us talked the Board into letting the Budget Committee continue serving. So I kept going to Selectboard meetings.

In this journal, I wanted to start documenting the meetings and other Selectboard and town issues here, along with my observations, so I could keep track of them. Also, so anyone who cared could read them and comment.

After getting so many great comments from other interested Windsor people, I decided to pay the money for extra journal features, primarily so other people could post their own articles, not just reply to my posts. People seem to like this medium to discuss Windsor topics.

Update: I moved this blog from Upsaid.com to WordPress for two reasons:

  1. Upsaid.com had a number of shutdowns, lasting a few days each.  The system manager was never very responsive and I was tired of getting emails about site problems.
  2. While I always wanted this blog to enable anonymous postings, I got tired of the drive-by-sniping and name-calling that was happening on occasion.  I wanted a level of accountability to people’s posts and was tired of trying to guess if one anonymous post had been written by the same person as another.  I think I get that level of accountability through this new site, since it requires registration and an email address.

The Upsaid.com blog had over 150,000 “hits” before the move, so clearly Windsor residents (present and past) want a means to communicate with eachother.  I hope this blog provides that venue.
