No Name Cafe serving up tasty dinners

April 28, 2008

Want a nice dinner out in Windsor? The No Name Cafe has a dinner menu again so now you have options. While the entré offerings are limited, the food is excellent. It’s a little more expensive than a greasy burger at the diner next door, but well worth it.

The current menu (varies) includes:

  • Sirloin Burger w/ Vermont cheddar & fries, chipolete mayonnaise, lettuce, etc
  • Choice of pastas with a choice of sauces: artichoke, spinach and tomato vegetable trio, or pesto sauce. Add chicken or shrimp
  • Pork chop with Walnut Dijon crust
  • Seared North Atlantic Salmon with chipotle maple glaze
  • Chicken Cordon Blue (stuffed with red peppers, goat cheese and maple ham)

Environmentally friendly business?

January 18, 2008

Is there a way to attract environmentally friendly businesses to Windsor? What if someone were to build a year round green house to provide local folks with organic products? That might also open up new avenues for existing businesses? The Merc is providing a place for local growers to sell their products, maybe Montpelier would promote that kind of business? This could be a very friendly way to create jobs and attract employees to Windsor. It surely would be a great way to grow the town in a positive way! We are always looking for fresh fruits and vegetables…

How would one proceed on this?

Thanks…

The No Name Cafe

January 10, 2007

Wow, we finally tried out this new place Tuesday night for take-out dinner and both thought our meals were delicious.  I only had a few minutes before the Selectboard meeting last night that I stopped in for a quick (white bean and sausage) soup and that was great too.  The food isn’t cheap, but I think it’s appropriate, given the quality of it.  My bowl of soup with a bottle of ice tea was $8.  The previous night I had the best Smoked Chicken Jalapeno Jack Cheese Quesadilla and the Garlic & Cheddar Mashed Potatoes, and my wife loved her baked Pork Chop w/ Apple-Red Onion Compote which totalled $22.00 plus tax.  The food was even still hot when we arrived at home, which was impressive considering the drive from downtown.

The atmosphere is unique, sort of like eating in an antique shop with old crooner music in the background.  Service was excellent (fast and friendly), they have a nice variety of foods, tons of flavored coffees.  I don’t drink coffee so I didn’t try, but friends said it was very good.  They also have great pastries whose quality rivals that of Christopher’s.
